Flashback to a few years ago. Back when I was younger, my parents used to take me out with them almost every weekend. Wherever we went, you could easily find the needy, the poor, or the unprivileged people in the market, on the sides of the roads, etc. One such day, when my mother offered them some food to eat, I asked her why she does this. In reply to that, she said, ‘Beta, we should always help the ones we can and shouldn’t need any reason’. That line struck something in me.
If we are privileged enough to have the opportunity to impact someone and their lives, then why are people hesitant to do so?
As that little girl, who just used to observe things from afar grew, the urge, the need to do something for such people instead of just watching from a distance, grew along.
I started to slowly realize, how privileged we are and how we have so much to offer to others. The world is blessed with kind people. If you can’t find one, try being one.
From that time on, I used to grab every opportunity I got to help out the ones in need. No matter how little it was, the happiness and the utter feeling of solace it gave was unmatched. Seeing the smile on others’ faces and knowing you are the reason behind it gives a feeling which can’t be compared to anything ever.
I’ve always wished to work for the social good and development of others, so when I came across Fly Higher India – FHI, it was the most perfect place for me. It was everything I’ve ever wanted. That little girl joined FHI as a platform to proceed with the realizations she witnessed while growing up. The way people of different ages, backgrounds come together for the fulfillment of one single purpose, connected with me the most. Each one of us, here at FHI chooses to give. We choose to work. We choose to impact. No matter who you are, where you come from, we are all together once it comes to repaying our share back to society.
I read a quote once, “Attitude is a choice. Happiness is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Respect is a choice. Whatever choice you make makes you.”
And it is indeed true. We are the choices we make. We all are the outputs of the decisions we take. Your choices can affect you in ways you can’t think. So to choose whether to give, whether to work, whether to inspire or not lies completely in your hands. I came across an opportunity, I took it and I couldn’t be happier. Joining FHI has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever taken and I wish to continue to go and to grow on this path with my fellow beings who are with me on this wonderful journey together to create a happier and beautiful world.
