A new year, a new week, a new day and a new me it is…! A new year dawns with a new perspective, everytime you tear a leaf off a calendar, you present a new place for new ideas. We have been associated with FHI since many days and have learnt one thing for sure that,
“what good things happen to you will depend a great deal on what you offer to give to the society ”.
FHI gave us an opportunity to interact with the underprivileged children from various fraternities of the society and the events gave an in depth understanding of how talented and intellectual these kids are…! Some children are exceptionally good at art, some are great at dealing with numbers, some are very expressive and the one thing in common that we observed is that they are keen to experiment and try out new things. So we as a team should bring out the talent of every individual so that they can excel in the field of their interest. We volunteers have different skillset and we also understand the importance of education in shaping an individuals future. Education opens various doors to the opportunities of achieving better prospects in life and also brings the feeling of equality among all the people in the society. But education is just not enough, it is important but it builds only certain percentage of us, so being a volunteer we should build the rest of the criteria of growth by teaching them the other aspects of life instead of only curriculum to build themselves. Looking at the spark in their eyes and the eagerness to learn new things, we as volunteers can definitely help in shaping their future to a greater extent. Once in a week, we volunteers can take responsibility and teach a child for minimum a few months until he/she achieves a good level of consistency in their language proficiency, spoken English skills, use of grammar and other skills like sketching, calligraphy and many more. It can be conducted once in a week where we get to identify their weaknesses and eventually convert them into their strengths. Adding to it at the start of any event, we can brief the children regarding current happenings worldwide and encourage them to express their views which will not only make them aware of the current scenario but will mould them into more confident individuals.
Me and my pen friend being an architect and interior designer by profession, graphics play an important role in conveying our emotions to the children as well as the society. Here is a graphic representing the sole aim of FHI, empowering the underprivileged half of the society and working towards the bright future of our nation..! We strongly believe that each one of us can make a difference but together we can make a change…! Let’s walk together no matter how long we will have to…!
